Numerical Evaluation in a Scaled Rotor-Less Nozzle Vaned Radial Turbine Model under Variable Geometry Conditions

The widespread trend of pursuing higher efficiencies in radial turbochargers led to the prompting this work. A 3D-printed model static parts a variable geometry turbine, vaned nozzle, and volute, was developed. This up-scaled from actual reference turbine place sensors characterize flow around nozzle vanes, including tip gap. In study, computational scaled-up carried out verify results two ways. For model, firstly compared with an already validated CFD real device (which includes rotor), its operating range extended different positions, we checked issues rotor–stator interactions as well influence elements such screws stator. After showing for openings, another purpose study check effect varying clearance over stator vanes on leakage since has gap height configurations.
